When forwarding calls to an external number, you can control which caller ID is displayed to the recipient. This behavior is determined by how the destination number is entered in the manager portal.
How It Works
The system uses the number format to decide which caller ID to present:
- 10-digit format (e.g., 6151230999)
Displays your office caller ID to the recipient. - 11-digit format with a leading “1” (e.g., 16151230999)
Displays the original caller’s caller ID to the recipient.
Summary
By simply adjusting the number format when setting up call forwarding, you can choose whether calls appear to come from your office or from the original caller.
