How to Remove Spam Labels from Your Business Phone Number

Why Is My Number Showing Up as Spam?

In today’s world of constant robocalls and phone scams, it’s not uncommon for legitimate business numbers to be mistakenly marked as “Spam Likely” or “Scam Risk.” This can impact your ability to reach customers — and understandably, it’s frustrating.

At Prysm Voice, we want you to understand why this happens and what you can do about it.

How Spam Tagging Works

There’s no universal spam-blocking system — each carrier and spam detection service uses its own criteria. Some of the common factors they consider include:

  • High volume of outbound calls from your number
  • Short or dropped calls that appear suspicious
  • Frequent calls to multiple area codes
  • Newly active or low-history numbers

If a carrier or third-party analytics service flags your number, calls to their subscribers may be labeled as spam — even if your calls are legitimate.

Unfortunately, there’s no master database to check your number’s “reputation.” Each carrier uses its own logic, and your number may appear fine to one provider but flagged by another.

What About Call Attestation?

At Prysm Voice, all outbound calls from our system are signed using the STIR/SHAKEN framework, which helps verify your caller ID and reduce spoofing. We assign the highest possible attestation level based on your service configuration:

  • Full Attestation (A): You’re a verified customer using authorized numbers
  • Partial Attestation (B): You’re a known customer, but the number isn’t fully verified
  • Gateway Attestation (C): The origin of the number couldn’t be confirmed

While proper attestation strengthens your call legitimacy and helps prevent spoofing, it doesn’t guarantee your number won’t be flagged. Carriers may still label calls as spam based on analytics, call volume, or user reports. That’s why it’s important to monitor and report incorrect spam tagging as needed.

We Don’t Sell Caller ID Monitoring Services

While there are companies that offer to monitor your number’s caller ID reputation for a monthly fee, Prysm Voice is not affiliated with any of them, and we don’t endorse or recommend one over another. Use your best judgment if you choose to explore those options.

What You Can Do

If your number is showing up as spam, the best course of action is to contact the receiving carrier directly. Many carriers have online forms you can submit to request review and removal. Here are a few starting points:

Optional Caller ID Reputation Tools

While we don’t use or recommend any third-party services, you’re welcome to explore options that may suit your needs. Some examples include:
